Earl Francis Lloyd is an American professional basketball player and coach. He was the first African-American player to play a game in the National Basketball Association. An American footballer at West Virginia State University, Lloyd helped lead the State of West Virginia to an unbeaten season in 1948. As a professional player, Lloyd helped lead the Syracuse Nationals to the Tournament. NBA Championship in 1955. Lloyd was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Fame Hall in 2003 .
