Edmund Gwenn ist ein englischer Schauspieler. Im Kino ist er für seine Rolle als Kris Kringle im Weihnachtsfilm Miracle on 34th Street am besten in Erinnerung, er gewann den Oscar als bester Nebendarsteller bzw. den Golden Globe. Er erhielt einen zweiten Golden Globe und eine weitere Oscar-Nominierung für die Komödie Mister 880. Er ist auch für seine Hauptrolle in vier Filmen von Alfred Hitchcock bekannt. Als Theaterschauspieler im West End und am Broadway war er mit vielen Werken moderner Dramatiker zusammen, darunter Bernard Shaw, John Galsworthy und J. B. Priestley. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg lebte er in den USA, wo er eine erfolgreiche Karriere in Hollywood und am Broadway machte.
