George Washington Benson is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He started his professional career at the age of 19 as a jazz guitarist. Once a child prodigy, Benson made his debut in the 1960s, playing jazz soul music with Jack McDuff and others. After that, he embarked on a successful solo career, alternating between jazz, pop, R&B and sc vocals. His Breezin 'album was certified three platinum, failed. 1 on the 1976 Billboard Albums chart. His concerts were well-attended in the 1980s, and he still has a large following. Benson has been honored with a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame.
