Herbert Jeffrey Hancock ist ein US-amerikanischer Pianist, Keyboarder, Bandleader, Komponist und Schauspieler. Hancock begann seine Karriere bei Donald Byrd. Sein Tribute-Album River: The Joni Letters aus dem Jahr 2007 gewann 2008 den Grammy Award for Album of the Year, nach Getz/Gilberto 1965 nur das zweite Jazzalbum, das diese Auszeichnung erhielt. Seit 2012 ist Hancock Professor an der University of Kalifornien, Los Angeles, wo er an der UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music unterrichtet.
