James Connolly war ein irischer Republikaner, Sozialist und Gewerkschaftsführer. Connolly war langfristig die rechte Hand von Larkin in der Irish Transport and General Workers' Union, bis er nach Larkins Abreise in die Vereinigten Staaten die Führung sowohl der Gewerkschaft als auch ihres militärischen Flügels übernahm und dann beide bis zu seinem Tod führte.
