Elmer Kenneth Strong war ein American Football Halfback und Fullback, der auch Minor League Baseball spielte. Er galt in den ersten Jahrzehnten des Spiels als einer der größten Allround-Spieler, wurde 1957 in die College Football Hall of Fame und 1967 in die Pro Football Hall of Fame aufgenommen und in das NFL 1930s All-Decade Team berufen. Geboren in West Haven, Connecticut, spielte Strong College-Baseball und Football für die NYU Violets. Im Fußball führte er das Land 1928 mit 162 Punkten an, gewann über 3.000 Yards durch Scrimmage und war eine Konsensauswahl der ersten Mannschaft im College Football All-America Team von 1928. Strong spielte Profifußball in der National Football League für die Staten Island Stapletons und New York Giants sowie in der zweiten American Football League für die New York Yankees. Er führte die NFL 1934 beim Scoring an und wurde 1930, 1931, 1933 und 1934 als All-Pro der ersten Mannschaft ausgewählt.
