Kevin Alexander Leon, known professionally as Kevin de León, is an American politician who has served as Commissioner of the Los Angeles City Council of District 14 since 2020. As a member of the Democratic Party, he was previously the 50th interim chairman of the California State Senate from October 15, 2014 to March 21, 2018. As a member of the Latin American Legislative Group in California, he is the first Hispanic person to hold a position more than 130 years old. He represents the 24th Senate District, covering downtown and east Los Angeles, from 2014 to 2018; That year, De León launched an unsuccessful campaign against a senior US senator from California, Dianne Feinstein. He represented the 22nd District of the State Senate from 2010 to 2014.
