Kurt Steven Angle is an American Olympic gold medalist, retired professional actor, wrestler and former amateur wrestler. He is best known for his time with WWE and Total Nonstop Action Wrestling. While at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Angle won several awards, including twice as the National College Athletes Association Level I Heavyweight Champion. After graduating from college, Angle won a gold medal in freestyle at the 1995 World Wrestling Championships. He went on to win gold in freestyle at the 1996 Summer Olympics. one of only four to finish the amateur Grand Slam wrestler. In 2006, he was named USA Wrestling's Greatest Shooter of All Time and one of the Top 15 College Wrestlers of All Time. He was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 for his amateur accomplishments. Angle first appeared at a professional wrestling event in 1996 and signed with the World Wrestling Federation in 1998 .
