Minju Kim is a Korean fashion designer known for women's outfits and bold motifs. In 2020, she was named the first season winner of Netflix's Next In Fashion. Kim was born in Gwangju, South Korea and studied in New Zealand as a teenager. Initially, she wanted to attend art school and become a designer, but was encouraged by her parents to study fashion design in Seoul. She studied fashion design at the Samsung Art & Design Academy and another at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. Kim attributed the influence of RAFA designers and trainers like Walter Van Beirendonck to her love of fashion design. In 2015, she established her own company headquartered in Seoul, MINJUKIM. She is known for launching her fashion shows with a basic print, self-design that appears throughout the rest of the collection. Its prints from the Fall 2018 collection are based on the Galaxy Express 999.
