Nadir Afonso, GOSE ist ein portugiesischer geometrischer abstrakter Maler. Nach einer formalen Architekturausbildung praktizierte er zu Beginn seiner Karriere bei Le Corbusier und Oscar Niemeyer, Nadir Afonso studierte anschließend Malerei in Paris und wurde zu einem der Pioniere der dynamischen Kunst. Studium und Arbeit bei Victor Vasarely, Fernand Léger, Auguste Herbin und André Bloc. . Als Theoretiker der Ästhetik auf der Grundlage seiner eigenen Geometrie, die in einer Reihe von Büchern veröffentlicht wurde, verteidigt Nadir Afonso die Idee, dass Kunst völlig objektiv ist und den Gesetzen der Kunst unterliegt.
