Pat Proft ist ein US-amerikanischer Comedy-Autor, Schauspieler und Regisseur. Proft wurde 1947 in Minnesota geboren und begann seine Karriere Mitte der 1960er Jahre im Brave New Studio von Dudley Riggs in Minneapolis. In den späten 1960er Jahren trat er weiterhin als Solokomödie auf. 1972 begannen Proft-Darsteller im Comedy Store in Hollywood zu arbeiten, was dazu führte, dass sie für Smothers Brothers und Zucker, Abrahams und Zucker im Fernsehen und im Filmschreiben arbeiteten. Von den vielen Spielfilmen, die Proft geschrieben hat, ist Wrongly Accused der einzige, bei dem er Regie geführt hat. Es wurde 1998 veröffentlicht. Proft arbeitete weiterhin mit David Zucker zusammen und 2013 wurde bekannt gegeben, dass er an einer Parodie mit Zucker im Zusammenhang mit den Serien Jason Bourne und Mission: Impossible arbeitete.
