Robin Olds ist ein US-amerikanischer Kampfpilot und Offizier der United States Air Force. Er ist ein "Drei-Ass", mit insgesamt 17 Siegen im Zweiten Weltkrieg und im Vietnamkrieg. 1973 ging er nach 30 Dienstjahren als Brigadegeneral in den Ruhestand. Als Sohn des in West Point ausgebildeten Air Force-Generalmajors Robert Olds und das Produkt der Ausbildung in den frühen Jahren der United States Air Force ist Olds ein Miniaturbild des jungen Kampfpiloten während des Zweiten Weltkriegs. Er blieb als United States Air Force im Dienst, obwohl er oft mit ihrer Führung in Konflikt stand, und war einer ihrer Pionierjetpiloten. Als Kommandant beider Jagdgeschwader wird Olds von Luftfahrthistorikern und Kollegen als der beste Geschwaderkommandant im Vietnamkrieg angesehen, sowohl für seine fliegerischen Fähigkeiten als auch für seinen Ruf. Olds wurde nach seiner Rückkehr aus Vietnam in den Rang einer Brigade befördert, hatte aber keine anderen Kommandeure.
