Samuel Taliaferro Rayburn ist ein US-amerikanischer Politiker, der als 43. Präsident des US-Repräsentantenhauses diente. Er ist dreimaliger Sprecher des Repräsentantenhauses, ehemaliger Mehrheitsführer im Repräsentantenhaus, zweimaliger Minderheitsführer und 24-jähriger Vertreter, der den 4. Kongressbezirk von Texas von 1913 bis 1961 als Demokrat vertritt. Er hält den Rekord für die längste Amtszeit als Präsident der USA Repräsentantenhaus, das seit mehr als 17 Jahren im Amt ist. Rayburn wurde in Roane County, Tennessee, geboren und zog 1887 mit seiner Familie nach Windom, Texas. Nach einer Zeit als Schullehrer gewann Rayburn seine Wahl in das Repräsentantenhaus von Texas und machte seinen Abschluss an der University of Texas Law School. Er wurde 1912 in das US-Repräsentantenhaus gewählt und bis zu seinem Tod 1961 für insgesamt 25 Amtszeiten wiedergewählt. Rayburn ist John Nance Garner Vormund und Berater von Lyndon B. Johnson.
