Waleed Sami Abulkhair ist ein saudi-arabischer Anwalt und Menschenrechtsaktivist und Leiter der Organisation Monitor of Human Rights in Saudi-Arabien. Er ist der erste Aktivist, der vom Terrorismusgesetz verfolgt wird. Er wurde am 15. April 2014 verhaftet und in das al-Ha'ir-Gefängnis gebracht, bis er strafrechtlich verfolgt wurde. Am 6. Juli 2014 wurde Abulkhair vom Specialized Criminal Court zu 15 Jahren Gefängnis und einem weiteren 15-jährigen Reiseverbot sowie einer Geldstrafe von 200.000 Rial verurteilt. Am 12. Januar 2015 kehrte der Fall an das Berufungsgericht zurück, woraufhin der Richter die Erhöhung des vorherigen Urteils beantragte, weil Abulkhair sich weigerte, sich zu entschuldigen. Somit wurde das Urteil auf 15 Jahre vollstreckt. Als Antwort darauf betete Abulkhair um Gottes Sieg und weigerte sich, die Legitimität des spezialisierten Strafgerichtshofs anzuerkennen.
