However, he is best known as a versatile player who has played for Surrey and England. He captained Surrey from 1997 to 2003, winning three County Championships and leading the UK cricket team in the International One Day Championships. He was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 2003. Since retiring from cricket in 2004, Hollioake has devoted his time to charity and media work as well as development. He moved to Perth, Western Australia, and then to Queensland. His real estate company, Hollioake Group, collapsed in 2010. Since 2018, he has worked as a cricket coach in Afghanistan and for the British Lion Team.
