Ciara Kathleen Michel is an English / American volleyball player in the middle position. Born in Taunton, Somerset Michel learned to play volleyball in Miami, Florida after her parents moved there when she was 10 years old. The beginning of a long tradition of school volleyball. She then became a student athlete at the University of Miami from 2004-2008, where she was captain, and still holds the record for most career blocks. After graduating from college, she continued to perform in Australia, for Blues of Victoria University, while completing her Masters at the University of Melbourne. She played her first two professional seasons for Alemannia Aachen in Germany. Michel was selected to represent the United Kingdom at the London Olympics in 2012, where she led her team to a historic victory over Algeria. The team finished 8th with 8th place overall.
