Clifford Jordan
Clifford Laconia Jordan is an American jazz saxophonist. In Chicago, he has performed with Max Roach, Sonny Stitt and several blues and rhythm groups. He moved to New York in 1957, after which he recorded three albums for the Blue Note. He recorded with Horace Silver, J.J. Johnson and Kenny Dorham, among others. He was part of Sextet Charles Mingus, along with Eric Dolphy, on their European tour in 1964. Jordan toured Africa with Randy Weston and performed in Paris while living in Belgium. He then led his own groups, performed with the Eastern Rebellion quartet of Cedar Walton, and conducted a large band. Jordan is married to Shirley Jordan, the designer and former owner of the New York City Clothing Corporation. Later, he married Sandy Jordan, a graphic designer and honorary board member of the Jazz Foundation of America.
