Floyd Chester Sneed is a Canadian drummer best known for his work with the band Three Dog Night. Born in the Canadian city of Calgary, Sneed grew up in a family of musicians and became interested in the drums from an early age. His first drums were a gift from his sister Maxine, who at the time was married to musician and actor Tommy Chong. He joins a band called "Calgary Shades" that includes pianist brother Bernie Sneed. He soon started performing in the Vancouver area with bands from Chong, Little Daddy and Bachelors. In 1966, Sneed formed his own group and moved to Los Angeles, California. In 1968, he met a trio of singers who had contracts with Dunhill Records and were looking for musicians to accompany him. Sneed joined their new group, Three Dog Night, which became commercially successful in the late 1960s and early to mid-1970s. Sneed saved only one song with the band; He sang deeply in "Joy to the World", sang the lyrics to "I wanna tell you".
