Mark John Douglas Messier is the former Canadian professional ice hockey center of the National Hockey League. He's played a quarter of a century in the NHL with Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers and Vancouver Canucks. He has also competed professionally with the World Hockey Association's Indianapolis and Cincinnati Stingers. He was the last former WHA player to be active in professional hockey and the last active player at the NHL in the 1970s. After his competitive career, he served as a special assistant to the president and general manager of Rangers. Messier is considered to be one of the greatest ice hockey players of all time. He is second on the all-time list in his career in playoff scores and third for regular season matches played and regular season scores. He's a six-time Stanley Cup champion - five with Oilers and one with Rangers - and the only player to captain two teams at the Stanley Cup championship.
