Paul William "Bear" Bryant is an American football player and coach. He is best known as the head coach of the University of Alabama football team. During his 25 years as Alabama's head coach, he has amassed six national championships and thirteen congress championships. When he retired in 1982, he held the record for the most number of wins as the head coach in college football history. The Paul W. Bryant Museum, Paul W. Bryant Hall, Paul W. Bryant Parkway, and Bryant - Denny Stadium are all named in his honor at the University of Alabama. He is also known for his black and white hat, his deep voice, calmly leaning against the goal post during pre-match warm-ups and keeping his game plan curled on the sidelines. Before coming to Alabama, Bryant was a football head coach at the University of Maryland, University of Kentucky and Texas A&M University. He is considered by many to be the greatest college football coach of all time.
