Red Auerbach
Arnold Jacob "Red" Auerbach is an American professional basketball coach and executive. He is the head coach of the National Basketball Association, most notably with the Boston Celtics. He is also the head coach of the Washington Capitols and the Tri-Cities Blackhawks. As a coach, Auerbach set an NBA record with 938 wins and nine championships. After retiring as a coach in 1966, he served as president and headed the Celtics' main office until his death. As the general manager and president of the Celtics team, he won seven other NBA titles for a total of 16 in 29 years and made him one of the most successful team officials in the world. Auerbach is remembered as a pioneer of modern basketball, redefining basketball as a game dominated by teamwork and defense and introducing quick breaks as a powerful weapon of attack. He has prepared many players to continue to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
