Ronald Welty is an American musician who was the drummer of the American punk rock band The Offspring. Of all the drummers in the group, Welty's tenure is the longest, surpassing current drummer Pete Parada, who has been a member of The Offspring for 13 years. His tenure in the group marks for most of the fans the classic years in the group's history. He replaced their second drummer James Lilja, and was only 16 by the time he arrived. However, he left to form the group Steady Ground, in which he played drums and co-produced. His departure was announced on 18 March 2003 on The Offspring's official website. He played six of The Offspring's first studio albums before leaving, their debut album of the same name, Ignition, Smash, Ixnay on the Hombre, Americana, and Conspiracy of One. He left the band while they were writing and recording Splinter, their seventh studio album released in December 2003
