Nathaniel Pierre Jones, known as DJ Pierre, is an American DJ and house music performer based in Chicago. He helped develop house acid house music, as a member of Phuture whose 1987 EP Acid Tracks is considered the first acid house recording. Allmusic.com calls Jones an important DJ and production assistant responsible in part for the growth of Chicago acid-house. Jones' debut single, "Generate Power," became the standard for producer sheet music over the next several years. Philippe Renaud, a reporter for La Presse in Montreal, says the term acid house was coined in Chicago in 1987 to describe the sound of the Roland 303 bass, the first time an important recording on Phuture's Acid Trax appeared that year. .
