Hjalmar "Hjallis" Johan Andersen is a Norwegian speed skater who won three gold medals at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo, Norway. He was the only winner of three gold medals at the 1952 Winter Olympics, and as such, he became the most successful athlete there. Nicknamed King Glad for his famous humor, he is one of Norway's most popular sportsmen. Four statues of him were erected throughout his life; in Trondheim, Hamar, Rødøy and outside the Bislett Stadium in Oslo. He organized a funeral at the expense of the state.
