Jason Curtis Newsted is an American musician who was the bassist of the American heavy metal band Metallica from 1986 to 2001. Beginning his career with the thrash metal bands Flotsam and Jetsam, he auditioned successfully. With Metallica to succeed Cliff Burton has passed away. Newsted has played on albums ... And Justice for All, Metallica, Load and Reload, the most appeared albums among Metallica bassists. After leaving Metallica, Newsted was a member of the metal bands Echobrain and Voivod and toured with Ozzy Osbourne, using the pseudonym Jasonic for Voivod. He also led heavy metal band Newsted from 2012 to 2014. Newsted was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Metallica in 2009 .
