Martin Buser is a sled dog racing champion. Born in Winterthur, Switzerland, Buser started thoughtful at the age of 17 in Switzerland. In 1979 he moved to Alaska to train and breed sled dogs full time. Its training center, Happy Trails Kennels, is located in Big Lake, Alaska. He entered his first Iditarod in 1980, and has raced all races since 1986, his third Iditarod. Buser has won four tournaments four times, in 1992, 1994, 1997 and 2002. Sixteen times he has finished in the top ten. He finished faster on the previous one, which is longer than it is now. In 2002 the race started in Wasilla. Now he starts at Willow, which shortens the race by about 80 miles. In 2002, his team completed more than 80 miles in 8 days, 22 hours, 46 minutes and 2 seconds.
