General Sir Richard Nugent O'Connor, was a senior British Army officer who fought in both world wars and commanded the forces of the Western Desert in the early years of the world war. He was the battlefield commander for Operation Compass, in which his forces wiped out a much larger army from Italy - a victory that nearly pushed Axis factions away from Africa, and in turn , which led Adolf Hitler to send Afrika Korps under the command of Erwin Rommel. to try to turn the situation around.
