Willy DeVille is an American singer and songwriter. During his thirty-five year career, first with the group Mink DeVille, then with his own, Deville created original songs from traditional American musical styles. He has worked with collaborators from many contemporary musical backgrounds, including Jack Nitzsche, Doc Pomus, Dr. John, Mark Knopfler, Allen Toussaint and Eddie Bo. Latin rhythms, blues, doo-wop, Cajun, French cabaret varieties and the highland spirit of the early 1960s can be heard in DeVille's work. Mink DeVille is a band from CBGB, New York's historic nightclub where punk rock was born in the mid-1970s. DeVille helped redefine the sound of the Brill Building. In 1987, her song "Storybook Love" was nominated for an Oscar.
