Lester Callaway Hunt, Sr., is a Democratic politician and dentist in the state of Wyoming. Hunt was the first person elected to two consecutive terms as governor of Wyoming, serving as the 19th governor from January 4, 1943 to January 3, 1949. In 1948, he was elected at the presidential rate. The island entered the United States Senate, and took office on January 3, 1949. Hunt has supported a number of federal social programs and has advocated for low cost medical and dental insurance policies. He also supported many programs offered by the Eisenhower administration after the Republican landing in the 1952 election, including the elimination of racism in the District of Columbia and the expansion of Social Security.
