Yano is a Filipino folk / punk rock band formed in 1992. The original members included Dong Abay for vocals and Eric Gancio for guitar. Onie Badiang joined them later to play bass. Nowie Favila is a normal drummer but refused to join the group due to a fight with Ang Grupong Pendong. Other drummers on the group include Nonong Timbalopez, Harley Alarcon and Jun Nogoy. The group got its name when Abay came across an entry in "Talahulugang Pilipino", an old Tagalog dictionary. "Yano" in Tagalog means "simple", a term commonly used by Tagalog speakers of Quezon Province. The group disbanded in 1997 after Abay left the group. In 2007, Gancio relaunched Yano as a solo group, although he continued to use his sub-members as backing musicians for live performances. In the following years, Gancio performed lead vocals and guitar with JR Madarang on bass and Ronald Madarang on drums. In 2013, Yano released his fourth studio album titled Talâ.
