Paul Abisheganaden is a Singaporean conductor and received a Cultural Medal in 1986 for his contributions to music. Paul was educated at Serangoon English School and St Andrew's School, took the Cambridge Advanced Exam in 1931. He studied arts at Raffles College and graduated in the arts in 1934. He was involved in education and teaching at the Geylang English School, where he composed the music and lyrics for the school's first song, "Geylang English School Song". Paul was recognized as a champion and revived classical music in Singapore in the 1940s and 1950s. He formed one of the country's first string music teams. As an educator, he was principal of the Victorian School from 1959 to 1961 and principal of the College of Education from 1963 to 1968. Subsequently, he taught in the music department of the National University of Singapore for decades. .

In 1986, he was awarded the Singapore Cultural Medallion for his work as a conductor and composer. He was also the founder of the country's first string orchestra.
