Guilherme Arantes è un cantante, cantautore e pianista brasiliano. È un artista Steinway. Da adolescente, era un membro del gruppo Os Polissonantes, che comprendeva anche l'attore brasiliano Kadu Moliterno che suonava il basso. Nel 1969, Arantes formò il gruppo Moto Perpétuo con i corsi di architettura dell'USP. Fu con Moto Perpétuo che Arantes ebbe la prima esperienza di tournée e di registrazione in studio. Il gruppo si sciolse nel 1974 perché Arantes voleva perseguire uno stile più commerciale di musica pop. Arantes abbandona gli studi per dedicarsi alla carriera solista, e nel 1976 il suo brano "Meu Mundo e Nada Mais" viene scelto da Rede Globo per essere inserito nella colonna sonora della telenovela Anjo Mau. La canzone è diventata un successo e Arantes ha girato il paese per la prima volta. Il suo album di debutto con lo stesso nome è stato pubblicato lo stesso anno sull'etichetta Som Livre di Globo. La canzone "Cuide-se Bem" da un disco simile è stata scelta anche da Globo per un'altra telenovela, Duas Vidas.
