Mette Frederiksen
Mette Frederiksen is a Danish politician, has been the Prime Minister of Denmark since June 2019 and has led the Social Democratic Party since June 2015. The second woman to hold either of these positions, she is also the youngest prime minister in Danish history. Aside from his short career as a unionist, Frederiksen has never had a job outside of politics. She was first elected to Folketing in the 2001 general election, representing the county of Copenhagen. After the victory of the Social Democrats in the 2011 general election, she was appointed Minister of Employment by Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt. She was promoted to Minister of Justice in 2014. After the narrow Social Democrats in the 2015 general election, Thorning-Schmidt resigned and Frederiksen won the next election of leadership to replace her, becoming the leader of the opposition. .
