Mykolas Krupavicius
Mykolas Krupavičius is a Lithuanian priest and politician. He is best remembered for his participation in land reform in Lithuania between the wars. In 1900, Krupavičius enrolled in the teachers' seminar in Veiveriai. He was interested in politics from the start: during the Russian Revolution of 1905, he was arrested twice. After graduating in 1905, he worked as a teacher in the provincial government of Łomża and Papilė. In 1908, Krupavičius began his theological studies at the Sejny Priest Seminary and continued at the Roman Catholic Theological Academy in St. Petersburg. He was ordained a priest in June 1914. After graduating in 1917 he became chaplain in a Lithuanian school in Voronezh. At the same time, he joined the Lithuanian Catholic Democratic Party and was sentenced to death by the Bolshevik Revolutionary Court. Krupavičius escaped captured and returned to Lithuania in May 1918 .
