Ahmet Gunestekin
Ahmet Güneştekin is a Kurdish-Turkish visual artist, with works of painting, concept art and building sculpture. For Ahmet Güneştekin, self-taught artist, art is the passion that motivates him from an early age. He left the city of Batman for Istanbul in 1991, but had to wait a few years before finding his own style in the early 2000s. He then abandoned the figurative sense to embark on an “abstract story”. This type of production contains souvenirs of indigenous art, souvenirs of motifs such as rugs, lamps and ottomans, of which geometry is the primary force. Güneştekin uses a unique technique with its own precision and method. After putting together an intricate network of black acrylic paint, he fills every little void with a layer of oil paint, from light to dark. Then, using a pen with a rubber tip, he etched it into the paint, and wrote like calligraphy on a book.
