Darcy Wakaluk is a former professional Canadian ice hockey goalkeeper who played at the National Hockey League from 1988 to 1997. Wakaluk played for Kelowna Wings and WHL's Spokane Chiefs. After being drafted by Buffalo Sabers, Wakaluk went on to spend five seasons with Rochester American of AHL, winning the Calder Cup in his first year and reaching the final again in 1989-90. On 6 December 1987, Wakaluk became the first American Hockey League goalkeeper to score a goal when he shot the ball into the empty net against Rochester against Utica. Two days later, Philadelphia Flyers' Ron Hextall made a similar feat when he became the first NHL goalkeeper to score a goal, also hitting an empty net. Darcy will then be introduced into the Rochester Hall of Fame in 2012 .
