Martijn Spierenburg is a composer and choreographer. He is also a keyboard player for the Dutch rock band Within Temptation. In 2018, it was announced that he would be the composer of the musical "Nieuw Amsterdam", demonstrating the Dutch role in New York City's rise during the Golden Age. This work will follow the successful Dutch work "Soldaat van Oranje". Spierenburg has written and arranged music for a number of artists, dramas and games. He participated in Within Temptation in 2001, shortly after releasing his second longest studio album, Mother Earth. Spierenburg co-wrote the songs for several within Temptation albums, including "Angels", "Memories", "Jillian", "Our Solemn Hour", "The Cross", "Sinéad" and "Forgiven". He uses the Roland keyboard on stage. Spierenburg also wrote the orchestra for the group and supervised the orchestra when the group recorded the album.
