Rex Todhunter Stout is an American writer famous for his detective novels. Its most famous characters are Detective Nero Wolfe and his assistant Archie Goodwin, who appeared in 33 novels and 39 novels between 1934 and 1975. In 1959, Stout received the House Award. Nero Wolfe's textual volume was nominated for the best mystery series of the century at Bouchercon XXXI, the world's largest mystery conference, and Rex Stout was nominated for the best mystery history writer of the century. In addition to writing novels, Stout was a well-known public intellectual for many decades. Stout was active in the early years of the American Civil Liberties Union and was the founder of Vanguard Press. He was head of the Writers' War Department during World War II, became a radio station known for its many radio programs, and then actively promoted global federalism.
