Aksel Lund Svindal is een voormalige Noorse WK-skiracer. Svindal, geboren in Lørenskog in de provincie Akershus, was tweevoudig wereldbekerwinnaar, Olympisch gouden medaillewinnaar in Super G op de Olympische Winterspelen van 2010 en bergafwaarts op de Olympische Winterspelen van 2018. Vijf keer de vijand van de wereld in downhill, reuzenslalom en supermix. Met een overwinning in de downhill-race in 2013 werd Svindal de eerste mannelijke alpine rijder die een titel won in vier opeenvolgende wereldkampioenschappen. Met zijn successen beschouwen velen hem als de beste Noorse alpine snowboarder aller tijden. Terwijl de grote Kjetil Andre Aamodt meer succes heeft gehad op de Olympische Spelen, is Svindal verreweg het meest succesvolle team van hun WK-run. Eind januari 2019 kondigde hij aan dat hij stopt met alpineskiën na de wereldkampioenschappen skiën van 2019.
