Barbara Knox, MBE is een Engelse actrice die vooral bekend staat om haar rol als Rita Tanner in de soapserie ITV, Coronation Street. Ze maakte haar debuut als Rita in een aflevering in december 1964, voordat ze in januari 1972 als volwaardig lid terugkeerde naar de show, een rol die ze sindsdien is blijven spelen. Ze wordt ook erkend als de oudste soap-actrice ter wereld. Knox debuteerde professioneel in 1962 in het Oldham Coliseum Theatre, met een kleine dansrol in de remake van Goodbye, Mr. Chips uit 1969, en verscheen naast Ken Dodd in de comedyserie Funny You Should Say That uit 1972.
