Christopher Franke is een Duitse muzikant en componist. Van 1971 tot 1987 was hij lid van de elektronische groep Tangerine Dream. Aanvankelijk een drummer bij The Agitation, later omgedoopt tot Agitation Free, verschoof zijn primaire focus uiteindelijk naar keyboards en synthesizers toen de groep afstand nam van zijn psychedelische rock-oorsprong. Hoewel hij niet de eerste muzikant was die een analoge sequencer gebruikte, was hij waarschijnlijk de eerste die er een live performance-instrument van maakte, waarmee hij de ritmische basis legde voor klassieke Tangerine Dream-stukken en inderdaad voor het hele Berlijnse schoolgeluid. Na zijn vertrek uit de groep richtte hij het platenlabel Sonic Images op, een new-age muzieklabel genaamd Earthtone en het Berlin Symphonic Film Orchestra, en produceerde hij een aantal solomuziekwerken. Na het verlaten van Tangerine Dream was zijn enige liveconcert op 9 oktober 1991 in het Astoria Theatre in Londen.
