Hij schreef ook teksten voor de musical Alan Menken King David en DreamWorks Animation's The Road to El Dorado. Rice werd in 1994 geridderd door Elizabeth II voor muziekdiensten. Hij heeft een ster op de Hollywood Walk of Fame, werd voorgesteld aan de Musicians Hall of Fame, ontving de Disney Legend Award en was lid van de British Academy of Musicians , Componisten en Auteurs Nationaal.
