She is famous for being the first amputee to face fit athletes at National College Athletes Association events and competed in the 1996 Paralympic Games in Atlanta. In 1999 she started modeling and in 2002 she started her acting career. She speaks at conferences and is best known for her TED talks. Born to Irish father Bernard Mullins of Crusheen, Co Clare in Ireland and Bernadette Mullins, she grew up in Pennsylvania.
