Alexander "Al" Barr is an American musician. He has been the lead singer of Dropkick Murphys since 1998. He is also the founder and lead singer of The Bruisers, which he helped found in 1988 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. His first group was around 1984, called D.V.A. He also passed 5 Balls of Power, along with future members of Scissorfight, The Radicts, L.E.S. Stitches and the US Bombs, before founding The Bruisers. His band, the Bruisers, performed a lot with Boston's Dropkick Murphys, and when Dropkick Mike McColgan's lead vocalist left the group in 1998, Murphys asked Barr to be the new lead vocalist. The first album Dropkick Murphys released with Barr as a singer was The Gang's All Here in 1999
