Colonel Alfred Merrill Worden USAF is an American test pilot, engineer and NASA astronaut who was the command module pilot for the Apollo 15 moon mission in 1971. Only one of 24 people flew to the United States. Moon, it orbits 74 times according to the Endeavor Commander module. Worden was born in Michigan in 1932; he spent his early years living on farms and studying at the University of Michigan for a year, before being appointed to the US Military Academy in West Point, New York. Graduating in 1955, he was commissioned into the Air Force, though he had no flight experience. He demonstrated proficiency in flying fighter jets and hone his skills, becoming a test pilot before being selected as a Group 5 astronaut in 1966. He was part of the plane. support crew of Apollo 9 and backup crew of Apollo 12 before they were selected for Apollo. 15 crew members in 1970, with David Scott as the commander and James Irwin as the lunar module pilot.
