Andrea "Andy" Ferro is a male vocalist and one of the founding members of the Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil. Ferro founded Lacuna Coil with Marco Zelati in 1994 under the name Sleep of Right. The two team up in winter at Zelati's house in the winter "too cold to skate". At first, the band covered only classics with guitar and vocals; Eventually they became more interested in music than skating, Ferro said "because of the age, the girls and all the injuries." When they met Cristina Scabbia and heard she could sing, they invited her to audition back-up. Hearing him sing, Ferro and Zelati suggested he join the group. In 1998, Lacuna Coil released their first EP and in 1999, after the departures of Raffael Zagaria, Claudio Leo and Leonardo Forti and the recruitment of Cristiano Migliore and Cristiano Mozzati, Lacuna Coil had the current lineup.
