Buddy Whittington, born December 28, 1956 in Fort Worth, Texas, is an American guitarist. He began playing guitar on the Beatles' Bluesbreakers, John Mayall's Rolling Stones and John Mayall's John Mayall records with Eric Clapton. By the age of 14, he was part of the Dallas / Fort Worth music scene and regularly performed in clubs along the Jacksboro Highway. While studying at L.D. Bell, Whittington performed in a band called Short Change, which opened Point Blank, a band he will later join, replacing guitarist Kim Davis. In the early 1980s, he formed and sang with his own group, The Sidemen. In 1991, they opened the door for John Mayall and when Coco Montoya left the Bluesbreakers in 1993, Mayall called him in to take his place on the group. In Mayall's group, Whittington sometimes sings and helps write songs.
