William Caleb "Cale" Yarborough, is an American farmer, businessman, former driver and owner of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. He is one of only two racers in NASCAR history to win three consecutive championships. He is the second NASCAR driver to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. His 83 wins took him to Jimmie Johnson for sixth place on the NASCAR Cup Series all-time winners list. His win rate of 14.82% is the ninth best of all time and third among those with 500 or more starts. Yarborough has won the Daytona 500 four times; His first win in 1968 for Wood Brothers, second in 1977 for Junior Johnson and two consecutive victories in 1983 and 1984 for Ranier-Lundy Racing. Yarborough is the third winner of the National Sports Car Association's Driver of the Year award.
