Carl Edward Sagan is an American astronomer, planetary, cosmologist, astrophysicist, biologist, author and scientific communicator. His most famous scientific contributions are research into extraterrestrial life, including the experimental demonstration of the production of amino acids from basic chemicals by radiation.
