Czesław Miłosz is a Polish-American poet, prose writer, translator and diplomat. Considered one of the great poets of the twentieth century, he won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1980. In his quote, the Swedish Academy calls Miłosz a writer who "shows the state of human exposure. in a world of serious conflict ”. Miłosz survived the German occupation of Warsaw in World War II and became a cultural attaché of the Polish government in the postwar period. His poetry - especially his experience of war - and his assessment of Stalinism in his prose book, The Captive Mind, earned him a reputation as a leading migrant artist and intellectual. Throughout his life and work, Miłosz has addressed questions of ethics, politics, history and faith.
